Obviously, president Bola Ahmed Tinubu have tough decisions to make with the choice of a Minister who will represent Oyo state in his Cabinet.
Ordinarily, appointing a Minister from Oyo state ought not to pose much problems for the president but there are serious complications arising from the unresolved intra party disputes that bedeviled the All Progressives Congress, Oyo state chapter before, during and after the last general election.
The issues within the party was made messier by intervening circumstances that eventually led to the unnecessary and avoidable loss of the gubernatorial election.
I must say with due respect but unequivocally that the president is not insulated from the crisis that now bedevil the state chapter of the party.
His association with some party stakeholders who fell out with the party and therefore decided to publicly work against the party on the one hand and the arrangements he had with Governor Seyi Makinde on the other hand are factors that have complicated issues.
It is not in doubt that the president is not looking in the direction of the party structure in Oyo state for his choice of Minister.
The rumours flying around on social media is that the president might be looking in the direction of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and the immediate former Governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Oyo state as possible Ministers.
The two choices, with due respect to the President leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
I do not know the yardstick the president used to measure the choice of Bayo Adelabu if indeed the rumours flying around are correct.
What exactly did he contribute to the success of the APC in the presidential election?
It is on record that Mr. Bayo Adelabu granted an interview on Lagelu FM in Ibadan a few days to the presidential and National Assembly election where he made a series of derogatory remarks about the APC. In his own words, he said the APC is a terrible platform which he found difficult to defend even while he was a member.
The video of that interview is viral and true to his words, he never campaigned for Asiwaju anywhere. I challenge him to show a video of him campaigning for the president.
On the other hand, the Senior Advocate on his own is a known supporter of the PDP.
One wonders what exactly he contributed to the success of APC that is unknown to the party and the public.
It will be interesting if the president appoints two Ministers from Oyo state and none is a member of the APC!
I for one do not envisage a situation as bad. I know the president is a seasoned politician who should know the implications of such an action both on the party and on his legacy.
What the world say about him? About his reward system?
I would not want to believe the unhealthy rumours flying around about him having personal scores to settle with some individuals.
Already, things are bad when you look at the way the mainstream party structure in Oyo state have faired in his Administration so far.
Practically nothing have come to the party whether in terms of regular appointments or offices within the National Assembly despite the fact that there are eminently qualified Legislators.
Mr. President sir, those of us who chose to speak truth to power are your genuine friends who wish you and the Administration well.
If anyone, for whatever reasons tells you that a complete neglect of the party in Oyo state will augur well, kindly, with due respect, take such people with a pinch of salt.
No matter what, the neglect of the party will not yield any positive results.
If I may ask sir, how does Oyo state APC deserve to be neglected having recorded the best results in the whole of the South West and one of the best throughout the Nation?
I am sure the party in Osun, despite the results posted are having no issues with you sir.
If Osun is APC is taking Its dues and Ministerial slots in Osun are not considered for opposition political parties, why must our own be different?
Already, Oyo have lost the Governorship to the opposition, not because we deserve to but because of some arrangements in Abuja.
Mr. President, it is not too late to do the needful and ensure that the party in Oyo state for the first time, have something to cheer and be grateful for in this Government.
SOLA ABEGUNDE.
