For Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, I have come to respect his unrivalled ability to take advantage of the situation inherent in the society to deceive the people, alienate them to his line of thinking and get them to do his will.

Charisma has been described as the ability to make others do, what ordinarily, they wouldn’t have done.

How Makinde have succeeded repeatedly to spin a large percentage of the people to see things in his cosmetics and deceptive ways must interest right thinking individuals.

There is this very popular maxim that says: you can deceive the people sometimes, you can deceive some people all the times but you can not deceive all the people all the time.

I think Makinde have mastered the art of deceiving the larger populace all the time.

Of all the zones in Oyo State, Ibarapa appears to be the most neglected during the first term of Governor Makinde.

Despite a plethora of promises to the zone, there is nothing tangible enough to point to as a benefit from the Government of Makinde in his four years.

When Governor Makinde announced the plan of his Administration to revamp the Eruwa Farms settlement and the intention to turn the settlement to an Agric hub, the whole of the zone went wild in jubilation.

However, up till today, that announcement existed only on paper!

Nothing. Not even a Tractor have scratched the ground at proposed site till this moment.

The Ido/Eleyele/ Eruwa Road, the only Road linking the whole of Ibarapa with the State capital was completely neglected.

A few weeks to the last March 18 2023 gubernatorial election, Governor Makinde while campaigning in Ibarapa flagged off the rehabilitation of the said Road from New Eruwa end of the Road.

Alas! The flag off was just a calculated attempt to deceive the people of the region to vote for him and he succeeded.

Immediately after the flag off, about 2km of the Road was graded within two days and rehabilitation job have since been abandoned.

The Road as we speak is a death trap and eye sore.

All the township Roads in Ibadan are in a terrible state. Though, the New Eruwa/Lanlate/ Maya Road was awarded shortly before the election, it was another calculated adventure at deceit.

The premises of the Alayande College of Education, Lanlate leaves a sour taste in mouth. Governor Makinde about a year and a half ago promised the Institution some funds but the promise has not been fulfilled.

The Mini Stadium project in Igboora is another catastrophe. The sight of the abandoned project is not pleasant to behold.

Ibarapa just got scammed in Omi Tuntun 1.0.

    SOLA ABEGUNDE.
