Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state knows that he had been gathering ant infested faggots in the past five years he’s been Governor of Oyo state.
He equally knows that he would gather the faggots for another three years remainder of his tenure as a two terms Governor.
Like Chinua Achebe postulated in his book ” Arrow of God”, he who brings ant infested faggots into his hut will surely be visited by lizards.
What faggots have Governor Makinde been gathering? What lizard is he afraid of? Why would he need a lilly livered successor?
Governor Seyi Makinde is indeed one who knows how to make others do, what ordinarily they wouldn’t have done.
He is a master in the art of divide and rule.
As a result of this, he has successfully alienated a large number of people, professionals and organisations to his line of thinking.
He deliberately targeted a section of the populace- the civil servants, knowing fully well that once they have their salaries and pension paid regularly, then, you become a kind of a messiah who can never be wrong.
He has also successfully identified and bought over the Media space in Oyo state to the extent that you wonder sometimes whether most of the Radio stations in Oyo state are actually owned by Governor Seyi Makinde.
In the build up to the 2023 Governorship election in Oyo state, a particular Radio presenter in one of the popular Radio stations in the state capital turned his programs which run on Saturdays and Sundays to an abbatoir where Makinde’s oppositions got their images butchered.
He has since got a beautiful car from the Governor for his efforts.
Another one, in another Radio station within Ibadan, after a deliberately packaged interview on the Thursday preceding the Governorship election in Oyo state, took a picture with the Governor in the studio and posted online with the caption ” Seyi Makinde is my guy”.
Note that campaign activities stopped on the midnight of that same Thursday.
Isn’t that strategic?
Seyi Makinde is a creation of the Media and he himself knows that underneath the bogus Media image, helped by a voiceferous Civil servants, there are more than meets the eyes.
So, why would ” the king of the streets be looking for a lilly livered successor?
There is no Governor who has done what Makinde have been doing with the Local Government funds in the past five years who will not want a Man Friday as a successor.
Despite the fact that our societies have become lethargic and cowardly in asking questions from the Authorities, Governor Makinde can not deceive himself by thinking that any reasonable human being will see the books after he has left office and such a person will not be bewildered at the heaps of rots that characterized his Government.
Who would see the amount recorded for the refurbishment of the Adamasingba stadium and would not shudder?
Who will look at the contracts for the reaward of the Moniya – Iseyin Road and would not ask questions?
How will someone see that 5 billion Naira have been collected over Agbowo shopping complex and that edifice is gone for 50 years and will just move on?
A Loan amount of 7b Naira secured by the late Ajimobi for infrastructures was upturned by Governor Makinde for the remodelling of some Farms settlements in Akufo, Eruwa, Fashola amongst others.
Which moron will see that except from Fashola Farms settlement, Eruwa and Akufo were completely abandoned and eyebrows will not be raised?
Who will succeed Makinde and would not ask questions about what happened to the billions of Naira belonging to the Local Governments during the period Governor Makinde placed embargo on the Local Government Accounts for several months?
Who will succeed Governor Makinde and would look away from the stench of corruption oozing from the TCTC, and the PMS, the resources from which Auxiliary boasted to have financed activities for Governor Makinde’s second term?
Oh! I shouldn’t forget to add. Which moron will not want to look at the contractor supplying diesel for the corruption pipe called ” Light up Oyo state project?
Even the contract sum is intriguing.
Surely, Governor Seyi Makinde needs less than a lilly livered fifty two years old.
He needs a moron to cover up the filth of illegalities he’s been gathering.
Like I said, he will not stop gathering the faggots.
The OYSIEC and Its Leadership just gave him another three years of mismanagement of the Local Government funds.
However, Governor Makinde, driven by ego have let the cat out of the bag when he declared that the one who will succeed him would be in the early fifties.
His statement about the age limit for his successor is not borne out of his love for the youths.
It betrayed his inner thoughts about a search for a puppet.
Maybe Governor Makinde had Ododo and ex Governor Yahaya Bello in mind.
Unfortunately, he seemed to have overlooked the cases of Peter Obi and Obiano, Oshiomole and the present Governor of Edo state and most recently, the case of his role model, Wike and Fubara.
Apart from the fact that the determination of the one who will succeed him is not his to solely determine, who told him that even if his son succeeds him, he won’t have issues with him?
I think the Governor should see himself as a good example.
How did he treat those who labored and sacrificed for him to become Governor in 2019?
How exactly did he treat his erstwhile Deputy, who , with others sacrificed to ensure he became Governor?
Governor Makinde easily brings to mind the story about the “Abenilori”.
” Abenilori o nii fe ki won mu Ida koja nipako oun”.
Incidentally, Governor Makinde has indicted a lot of people within his cabinet including himself, his Deputy and everyone above the age limit set by him.
The implication of that statement is that none of the members of his cabinet above the age limit set by him is competent to be Governor of Oyo state.
So sad!
Governor Makinde can continue to dream of a tomorrow where a moron of his liking will succeed him but God Almighty, I’m sure will not let such awful dreams materialize.
God knows what is best for Oyo state.
He sure won’t allow an “Ajele ” whose sole purpose would be to cover up Makinde’s filth to be our Governor in 2027.
