The Global President of LAUTECH Alumni Association, Hon. Onilede Solomon on Thursday met with Governor Seyi Makinde to discuss the ongoing industrial action by the staff and the government’s decision to rename the Institution.
This newspaper reliably gathered that the meeting was held behind closed-doors in Agodi Government House, Ibadan.
While briefing the newsmen on Friday morning shortly after the meeting, Hon. Onilede said that the Alumni Association was able to convince the governor on why the over 30 year-old institution should not be renamed.
In his words: “After several hours of interaction with His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde, I am happy to inform all fellow alumni and our students that Oyo State Government has rescinded her decision to rename our school. Also, we discussed ways forward to end industrial action in the school”.
The Global President assured that the strike action will be called off by the staff unions in no distant future. He thanked the governor for his listening ears.
