Gunmen have killed the traditional ruler of the Atta ancient kingdom in the Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State, Edwin Azike, who was kidnapped last Thursday.

The Imo state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Command Micheal Abattam confirmed this to newsmen in Owerri, on Friday.

The police said: “Yes, the man was killed and his body found in a car. The investigation has commenced getting the full details.”

It was gathered from the community that the tension has enveloped the area as villagers in fear of not knowing the next line of action.

However, a source close to the office of the Imo State Chairman of the traditional rulers, Eze Emmanuel Okeke disclosed that an emergency meeting has been summoned to discuss the matter.

“Imo monarchs are in pains why should this be happening to us. They kidnap us and they kill us this is very painful. Imo monarchs are meeting now to know the next line of action,” he told Vanguard.
