Kwara State Government is set to hold another round of free cataract surgeries in the state, a statement said on Tuesday. The free surgery mission is being organised in collaboration with the Ophthalmological Society of Nigeria. The statement issued by the Kwara State Ministry of Health said the exercise will hold between Monday August 30 and Tuesday August 31 at the General Hospital Ilorin and University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital. The statement urged members of the general public with eye problems to take advantage of the free surgeries to correct their eyes’ problems.

The Lagos State Government has warned that erring inbound passengers violating the safety protocols instituted by the Federal and State Governments to curb the COVID-19 third wave in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria will be sanctioned. Some bandits on Tuesday invaded the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna, killing two officers. The State Affairs NG reports that the bandits also abducted an officer and another other officer injured. The wounded officer was said to be receiving treatment at the Academy’s Medical Centre. The Eko Electricity Distribution Company on Monday announced the collapse of national power grid, worsening the blackout being experienced by households and businesses in some parts of the country This is coming less than a month after similar incident occurred.
