There was a popular blacksmith in the ancient town of Idanre a long time ago.
One day, a man took two hundred blunt cutlasses to the blacksmith to help him make some tools out of them.
The blacksmith asked his client to come back in three days.
On the third day, the client went back as asked by the blacksmith and surprisingly, the blacksmith handed over two hundred needles to the man and told him that was all he could make from the two hundred blunt cutlasses.
If the client was shocked, he didn’t betray it. He paid the required sum for the services of the blacksmith, collected the needles and went back to his home.
After some days, the client went back to the blacksmith and handed over the same two hundred needles to him, asking him to make two hundred cutlasses out of them.
In fact, he paid for the job immediately.
After the client left, the blacksmith fell into deep and sad thoughts.
His dishonest act of the past have caught up with him.
” Alagbede Idanre, ta ko igba ada fun, to ni igba abere lo ka, bi o se pada fi igba abere ro igba ada ku sowo e”.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will mark his first year as Nigeria’s president in a matter of a few days.
There is no way you will assess president Tinubu’s first year and the attendant pains, hunger and hardships and you will not cast your mind to the infamous blacksmith of Idanre.
President Tinubu’s path to the presidency was laden with a lot of political landmines.
Yet, the president gatecrashed where he needed to, he grabbed where it was necessary and flew with the seat called the presidency.
” Emi lo kan”, he had declared at a point when he was under the threats of losing the fight.
Candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu, having secured the ticket to represent the APC made a lot of promises to Nigerians and a lot of people believed him.
After all, he is the “architect of modern Lagos”.
Very unfortunately, president Tinubu have lost whatever good will he had before his election as president of Nigeria.
In clear terms, the president have been dimistified.
Interestingly, president Tinubu started scoring own goals, which would eventually become the hallmarks of his Economics policies from his first day in office.
“Subsidy is gone” he had ” courageously” declared in his inaugural speech on 29th May, 2023 and the markets responded immediately, albeit, negatively.
Petroleum prices soared from a hundred and sixty five Naira to almost six hundred Naira.
Prices of food and essentials followed suit.
Not done, the Naira was devalued through the floating of the currency and all hell were let loose.
Prices of some drugs multiplied by four or more.
The value of the Naira dropped to an all time low.
As we speak, having three meals a day have become an impossibility for majority of Nigerian homes.
Civil servants, traders and artisans are crying under the high cost of transportation.
Despite all this hardships, the Government of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu have kept increasing the woes of Nigerians through indiscriminate and incessant taxes.
It has gotten to a stage where Nigerians are beginning to wonder if there was a crime they have committed against the president that will warrant him to be pouring punishment upon punishment on the hapless citizens.
” Oosa bo le gbe mi, se mi bo se ba mi”. That is the general mood in town.
Nigerians are now and most unfortunately so, wishing for their lives to have been left at the point former president Mohammadu Buhari left them.
Who will blame them?
How much was petrol, cement, foodstuffs, drugs and other essentials as at May 29, 2023 when Buhari handed over to Tinubu?
Compare the prices of commodities between that time and now and you will agree that Nigerians have been taken to ” orun apaadi” by the present Government.
So much for the magicians of Lagos!
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu got what he wanted.
He had the luxury to surround himself with those he purportedly headed to ” rebuild” Lagos.
So, what is the problem? What are the excuses?
I think the president should send the ” ajebutters” with whom he has been running his Government to the markets to see the evils they have visited on Nigerians.
The Lagos Boys have failed and why won’t they?
All along, no magic was done in Lagos. It was all a make-believe.
They were not exposed in Lagos because Lagosians have learned not to depend on Government for survival.
Lagos is a survivor ground where the citizens have resorted to taking their destinies in their hands.
As for developments, Lagos state was once Nigeria’s capital.
The developments in Lagos can not be attributed to a particular individual.
If not, why has the president and his team of magicians failed woefully in the project Nigeria?
Why has the Tiger become a kitten?
Sadly, the APC will bear the brunt of the president’s action and inactions.
Former president Mohammadu Buhari bruised Nigerians for eight years.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is butchering them.
Olatunbosun, Olatunbosun, when there is no space for Olatunbosun to shift, he will turn back and do something drastic.
Unfortunately, when Nigerians turn their faces back to fight, they won’t only fight the president.
They will be fighting the APC.
Remember the Buhari Tsunami of 2015?
At this point, one would have expected the party to be taking the president up, advising him about the harsh Economic realities but how can they do that?
The National Chairman of the party was single handedly foisted on the party by the president against the zoning arrangements within the party.
The president’s tramplings have not been limited to the masses of Nigeria.
He is equally mashing on his party.
Or what would you say about how the president have been treating his party in some states? Oyo and Rivers states for example?
In those states, the president is comfortably in bed with the opposition while his own party men are locked outside in the cold.
Yet, somebody must salvage the president from himself or at the least, salvage the APC from destruction.
