As each day passes and we approached the April 27 Local Government Election in Oyo state, I knew Aare Isiaka Olagunju’s day of reckoning was near.
He was fortunate in 2021 when he presided over his first Local Government Election as Chairman of OYSIEC.
In 2021, the main opposition political party, the APC boycotted the Local Government Election for reason of having a matter It was pursuing in Court and which Its participation in the election would have prejudiced.
The Chairman of OYSIEC, in 2021 had no hassles in brushing aside the efforts of the Labour Party and the Zenith Labor Party which challenged the PDP in Ibarapa East and Ido Local Governments.
The atrocities perpetuated by the PDP and the OYSIEC was quickly doused despite the fact that the attricities led to the loss of four lives in Eruwa.
Unfortunately for the Chairman of the Electoral umpire this time around, the APC decided to participate in the Local Government Election and I knew from the onset that the stakes have been upped for the Senior Advocate.
I knew Aare Isiaka Olagunju’s flanks would terribly be exposed.
Aare Olagunju is one man who is considered by some as a man of ” integrity”.
The soft spoken Senior Lawyer also have a way of impressing the public, most especially, whenever he gets the opportunity to speak to the press.
Personally, I have learned to separate Olagunju’s said from his done.
I do not know how I will consider someone who called an election in favour of the PDP from a killing field in 2021 as a man I’m not supposed to take his promises with a pinch of salt.
Oyo APC have exposed Aare Isiaka Olaguju.
Attrocities in the 33 Local Governments is an impossible task for any human being to cover.
The build up to the April 27 Local Government Election and activities of OYSIEC have clearly exposed Its Chairman as one whose said and done are world apart.
What gladdens my heart is the fact that what Mr. Olagunju walked away with in 2021 have come to haunt him in 2024 and the Senior Advocate is now left with a choice to either redeem himself or put a nail on something.
One must give kudos to the press for exposing Makinde and the OYSIEC.
What we witnessed across the 33 Local Governments in Oyo state today have become a defining moment for the OYSIEC Chairman.
The whole world is watching him now.
Waiting to see if he will wake up tomorrow or any time soon to call the sham of an election supervised by him as a “landslide” for Makinde’s PDP.
It is so bad that a neighbor of mine, a school teacher, who was employed by Olagunju’s OYSIEC just joked with another how they have been ferried to the Local Government Secretariat to ” sort, count and record votes”!
Isn’t that the height of it and Olagunju must be waiting patiently to call the votes in favour of the PDP?
Incidentally, this is in Ibarapa East where no election took place and where the APC Local Government Chairman is unconscious in hospital after he had been viciously attacked by PDP zealots.
As for Governor Makinde, the good people of Oyo state have completely deflated his ego.
Infact, the APC should celebrate the exposure of the supposed jinx breaker.
It is a shame that one who basked in the euphoria of recording a ” landslide victory ” over the APC in the 2023 gubernatorial election has resorted to blackmail, intimidation and rigging to defeat the same APC in a Local Government Election where he has everything to his advantage and in less than a year after the “landslide victory”.
The APC have successfully put a lie to whatever manner of victory Makinde was credited with in 2023.
As he continued to beat the dums of shame and peril for the OYSIEC, it will be interesting to see how far the Chairman of OYSIEC is willing to participate in the naked dance at the court of public opinion.
We are watching.
Is it gonna be another sweep of the polls for the master?
