Like Sango, who fights without marking boundaries, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have allowed his disdain for his party men in Oyo state to transcend the political terrain.
In fact, advertently or inadvertently, Oyo state have become persona non grata in the consciousness of the president.
His latest demonstration of disdain for the state, a solitary slot was conceded to Oyo out of over five hundred appointments for Federal Higher Institutions.
The president made the appointments on Friday, 17th of May, 2024.
States like Osun and Lagos, as usual, got chunks of the slots with both states carving over twenty slots each.
I am sure there is no other state in Nigeria that got one slot.
It is not the first time that the president will shortchange Oyo state.
Oyo state, the capital of the Western Region also got a solitary slot for Ministerial appointment.
There is no way you look at it and you won’t be either confused or surprised as to why the president loathes Oyo state to the extent he does.
That he doesn’t care about the state, is no doubt, but why?
The president got the highest margin of victory from Oyo state and one of the highest in the whole Country.
It is a fact that the president lost in Lagos and got a crushing defeat in Osun state.
So, why would Oyo state be deprived while Lagos and Osun have been flooded with juicy appointments?
Some line of thoughts have carried the opinion that the president decided to shun Oyo state because he doesn’t like the faces of some personalities within his political party in Oyo.
That line of thoughts looked reasonable at the inception of his Government.
Didn’t he snub his party men completely and sided with the Gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, Seyi Makinde against his own party?
Did he not also snub the party completely and appointed a Minister on his own?
However, further activities of the president have begun to put a hole in the school of thoughts that said the president’s action is predicted on the assumed disdain for some people within his party in Oyo.
Up till today, there is no state deprived of patronage in Tinubu’s Government.
His recent appointments have also confirmed that the president perhaps have some other issues asides whatever is happening within his party in the state.
It is a sad trajectory that even, Adamawa, the home state of his political opponent, Atiku Abubakar got well over twenty slots to Oyo’s one slot!
Does the president hate the pacesetter state so much?
The last batch of appointments by the president have actually given him away as someone who is on a mission to not only punish the state but to also ridicule the state.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s action is an indication that it is a crime to stand with him in times of needs.
I think the president have made up his mind not to have anything to do with the state moving forward.
Or, what exactly would he place before Oyo when he’s asking for their votes again?
The series of insults and neglect?
It is very unfortunate that the president have chosen to spit on the efforts and struggles Oyo state contributed to his election.
I will like to remember him however that the one who deceives a woman to lay with her gets only one shot.
The one who also venture into the forbidden forest to cut trees should know that will be the last opportunity he gets to enter the forest.
