That the mouse no longer sounds like one and the bird no longer chirps like a bird within the Oyo state APC is an understatement.
“Nnkan o fi ara ro”. Things are not as they ought to be.
As Yorubas believe, it is the hands that shells the melon that is supposed to eat the soup made with it.
Unfortunately, the case for the APC in Oyo state is presently like the proverbial trouser which worked to buy an expensive fabrics fit for beautiful occasion but itself dumped in the farm.
Why and is this so?
President Tinubu, encouraged by some individuals within and outside Oyo state have continually ensure that Oyo APC is now onlookers in a Government It worked hard to enthrone.
After conspiring to ensure that the party lost to the opposition PDP during the 2023 gubernatorial and House of Assembly election, those who championed the onslaught have consistently ensured that the president keeps ignoring the APC in Oyo state in the choice of appointments and other benefits of the Tinubu Administration.
The president have made about two appointments from Oyo state, a Special Adviser and a Minister. Both without recourse to the party and not only that, the Special Adviser actually worked against the party during the general election and the Minister, apart from being the gubernatorial candidate of the Accord Party in the last election, also campaigned against the APC and Its candidates including the presidential candidate.
The reasonable inference to be drawn from the scenario above is that the president was in the know of the activities of the individuals and must have compensated them for helping in bringing down the APC in Oyo state.
For whatever it is worth, the president contested on the platform of the APC and must be seen to be doing everything within his powers to strengthen it and not to weaken it.
The president is also expected to know that just as he aspired, using the platform of the APC, others also have the right and desire to aspire for different positions.
Assuming the platform got deliberately weakened by the former president, would it have been possible to elect a president on It as we did on February 25, 2023?
The APC, Oyo state is seriously in need of redemption.
However, the president is much more in need of redemption from those who are feasting on the cracks deliberately created within the Oyo APC for their selfish reasons.
President Tinubu’s predecessor wrote his history for eight years. Good or bad, he will have to deal and live with it.
As for president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the clock started ticking the day he took oath of office and his chapter of the history book was opened that moment.
If the president will listen to honest appraisal, the history he has written so far in his treatment of the APC in Oyo state is to say the least, negative and unfortunate.
There is no moral justification for the continual taunting of the APC structures in Oyo state which ensured it recorded the highest victory in margin for the president.
It is strange that those who act as purveyors of the president’s punishment for the APC in Oyo state lost their state during the election.
The president must search his conscience at this point to consider whether to do the right thing by finding appropriate compensation for the APC in Oyo state or, if his conscience permits him, continue taunting those, who ordinarily should be his children because he wants to satisfy those who have obviously been misleading him.
The good thing about life is that nothing is permanent and no one should live as if tomorrow is a mirage.
