Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state and the Oyo state police command have a lot of questions to answer for the way they have dramatized the circumstances surrounding the purported attempt to arrest the former Chairman of the Parks Management System, Lamidi Mukaila aka Auxillary.
Mukaila had been declared wanted by the Oyo state police command after a purported failed attempts to arrest him in both his hotel and residence.
He was supposedly wanted on allegation of possession of illegal fire Arms and Ammunition.
After the police failed to get him arrested, he was declared wanted or so the public was made to believe.
However, a man who have been evading the Oyo state police command have been granting interviews with a popular OAP in Ibadan!
Unfortunately, we live in a funny society where the citizens don’t ask questions.
How is it possible for a Radio broadcaster to have access at will, to someone whom the police have not been able to locate?
Something is seriously fishy!
The latest interview by Auxillary is quite revealing and it points to the fact that no one is looking for Auxillary and whoever is claiming to be searching for him knows exactly where to find him but have deliberately decided to look away.
It is obvious from the interview that Governor Makinde and the police just put up a show to rub the ego of a power behind the power.
I shall come to that later.
The relationship between Auxillary, Makinde and Seye Famojuro, the one Auxiliary described as perhaps, the power pushing the Governor have been well ventilated.
According to Auxillary, Governor Makinde and Seye were the ones who sought him out to recruit him as ” guards ” , whatever that means, in the build up to the 2019 general election.
He claimed that the mutual understanding between them was that they will protect Makinde and vise versa.
He said Governor Makinde and Seye preferred to give him the task of ” protecting” them ahead of Sunday Igboho.
One would wonder why an educated elite like Eng. Seyi Makinde, who at the time was aspiring to be Governor of Oyo state would descend so low to recruit a Mukaila Auxillary, who at the material time just completed a prison term in Lagos?
Why would Eng. Seyi Makinde, who had the wherewithal to secure police protection as much as he wanted still needed to add an ex convict to his retinue of ” guards”?
What sort of protection was Auxillary and his boys offering to Eng Seyi Makinde before, during and after the election in 2019 till the time they broke up immediately after his second term election as Governor?
What sort of protection was Makinde offering in return?
This questions are not difficult to answer.
Auxiliary was for the period while the friendship lasted an attack dog of the Governor and the PDP in Oyo state.
The destruction he visited on Ibarapa East during the 2021 Local Government Election when he assisted the PDP to rig election and in the process leading to the killings of four people is a testimony.
Similarly, Auxillary was on hand to lead another onslaught against the people of Ibarapa North when Governor Makinde went to Igangan to campaign for a second term in office is another example.
Several lives were lost in Igangan.
Who protected Auxillary from arrest and prosecution on both occassions?
Your guess is as good as mine.
Who protected him when a gentleman was gunned down in Iwo Road?
Who protected him when he destroyed Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign Billboards?
Who defended him when Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin, gubernatorial candidate of the APC advised the Governor to tame Auxillary during the gubernatorial debate?
It was reported that when the police came to arrest Auxillary from Abuja in respect of the damaged Billboards, he promptly ran to the Government House and he was well protected to the extent that his bail bonds were reportedly signed by the Governor!
You can now see that the ” protection” deal was mutual until Auxillary stepped on the toes of the ” co governor”.
Like I said, Auxilliary’s interviews have been quite revealing.
He had in his initial interview stated clearly that he spent the funds of the PMS to campaign for Governor Makinde’s second term.
This is a very weighty statement.
Motor parks in Nigeria are a responsibility of the Local Governments.
The IGR derived from the Parks should majorly belong to the Local Governments.
How then did Auxillary have his hands in the funds that belongs to the 33 Local Governments to the extent that he used such to campaign for Governor Makinde’s second term?
I have been calling for a thorough investigation of the activities of the PMS and I think this is a challenge to well meaning citizens of the state to advocate for an investigation of the funds of the PMS.
Auxiliary’s interview series is an eye opener.
It confirms that the rabble rouse regarding the arrest and further declaration of Auxillary as a fugitive have become another Drama from the staple of Government.
Auxiliary stated emphatically in his recent interview that he is in his home at Olodo and that he would not leave Ibadan for Seye.
He also confirmed that he worked for the PDP candidates in his Local Government at the just concluded charade of a Local Government Election!
So who’s fooling who here?
The allegations Governor Makinde and the police leveled against Auxillary are massive.
The quantum of Ammunition purportedly recovered from his personal house and hotel is mind boggling.
This are not allegations that should be left under any carpet no matter how thick the carpet is.
The stories of betrayal between the Governor, Seye and their former ” guard” is no one’s business.
However, there are serious questions begging for answers here and that is the reason why this matter can not be brushed aside.
Auxiliary is an illiterate. No doubts about that.
He is equally an ex convict.
How was he able to assemble the quantum and types of Ammunition displayed by the police on his own without help from someone?
Those were highly sophisticated weapons?
What was he doing with those weapons?
Are those the weapons he and others used in protecting the ones who sought protection from him?
Auxiliary surely have accomplices. Who are they?
According to Auxillary, in the interview, he said it was Seye who gave him approval to go around with thugs.
The Governor and the police must ensure that the man is fished out to clear the air on this crucial questions.
