The above was a warning folksong we were used to when we were younger. It translates as a warning to a kid engaged in dangerous play. The end result of dangerous play is likened to a fall that occassioned a burst rostrum for the kid who tried to climb the pawpaw tree.
It is a figurative song. The pawpaw tree is considered a very dangerous tree to climb because of its frail nature and every dangerous play by kids was considered ” ere gele” akin to climbing the pawpaw tree.
You will wonder who is risking a burst scrotum through “ere gele” in this context.
I have been carefully watching the antecedents of the Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde in politics since 2019 and I must say that I seriously fear for the Legacies of second term Governor of the Pacesetter state.
I read some reports recently and from my very keen examination of his activities in the political field, it does appear that Governor Makinde is digging a pit that might be too deep for him to crawl out.
You wonder how a man would engage in such an act?
No one decidedly digs a pit for himself but many have ended up falling into the same pit they dug for others.
Governor Seyi Makinde is a very fortunate politician. Unfortunately, he has mistaken the benevolence of God for his personal craftiness.
The word of God is very powerful. Did the Bible not say that God elevated his words above his name?
That same highly elevated words of God said that ” the powerful are being confused with the vanities of the world”! ( Ohun asan Aye la fi ndaamu awon alagbara).
Why a two term Governor would submit himself as a Pawn to be toyed with and tossed around by others still baffles me till now.
What exactly is Governor Makinde searching for, if not” bekun bekun ” ( Ruptured tummy)?
You have been very fortunate to be elected Governor of Oyo state twice . In a state where greater men and politicians failed to secure a second term.
No matter the reasons you might want to adduce for the scenarios that afforded Makinde a two term as Governor of Oyo state, a feat only achieved by the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, the reality is, Makinde will be recorded as serving two terms.
Each time I see how Governor Makinde has made himself available for the assignment of destroying the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the political platform that made him Governor for eight years, I always shudder in sadness.
I shudder in sadness not because whatever he and others who are in league with him in the terrible act, chose to do with their Party is any of my business directly.
I shudder in sadness because I see a man, whom God has bestowed upon, a great deal of goodwill, recklessly throwing away same and most importantly, because, Governor Makinde and his colleagues have robbed Nigerians the benefits of enjoying the advantages of a functioning and effective opposition Party.
The advantages of an effective opposition Party in a Democracy is enormous.
The ruling Party, if It is aware of an opposition Party waiting in the wings to benefit from Its failings would be at Its toes.
Unfortunately, due to the greed and the inordinate ambitions of individuals like Governor Makinde, the opposition Party in Nigeria is currently on Its knees and those in Government are given the laxity to do whatever pleases them.
That is why I found it funny when some myopic individuals criticize me for focussing on Makinde and neglecting to see anything wrong in Tinubu.
How do you separate a Ruler you considered inefficient from those who put him on the throne and are still doing whatever it takes to keep him there?
How do I overlook the fact that, in the context of which those individuals want me to travel, I find it difficult, if not impossible to separate six from half a dozen?
Whatever lies Governor Makinde told in 2023 as reasons for contributing to the downfall of his Party could no longer hold water.
The interest to destroy the PDP in 2023 by Makinde is personal and survival driven.
I am not surprised that Governor Makinde would do anything, moving forward, to avoid the fortune presently befalling Yahaya Bello.
He who spat on the ground and quickly covered it with his foot knew the evil he perpetuated with the saliva of others.
From available information, Governor Makinde has instructed the 33 Local Government Chairmen to go open a different account with the First Bank of Nigeria.
This is with a view to continue the plundering of the monthly Allocations for the Local Governments through Loans and illegal deductions.
I will focus on that in another piece because we will put President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Attorney general of the Federation and the EFCC to the test on the matter.
Now, to the matter at hand. I seriously pity those who are still following Governor Seyi Makinde with the ambitions to contest for the position of House of Representatives and Senate under the PDP in 2027.
Whoever does so is on his own.
It will be transactional just as it was in 2023.
Governor Makinde is not stooping around for the sake of anyone. He is desperate to cover his dirty tracks so that he won’t need to be jumping fences like someone we know.
In the process, he won’t mind to sacrifice anything if only he would have his wishes of installing his preferred dummy as Governor of Oyo state in 2027.
Sadly and fortunately for Oyo state, the ways of man is different from the thinking of God and when they clash, ultimately, God’s Will shall prevail.
When this ridiculous mortals sat to draw their evil and selfish plans, it is obvious that they always completely forgot the Almighty God who does things the way that pleases Him.
The late Pa Alex Ekwueme was a member of the G-34.
He and others founded the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He showed the interest to contest as President under the Party and was not successful.
To the credit of the old man, he never for once did anything detrimental to the success of the Party till he answered the call of his Creator.
History will forever be kind to such great men.
As it will be cruel to Governor Makinde and others.
It is not enough for the likes of Wike and his gang of G-5 to destroy a House they once sought shelter, just because they failed to achieve their ambition to be President.
If Pa Alex Ekwueme had the same mindset, Wike, Makinde and others, perhaps wouldn’t have smelled the office of Governor.
So much is happening at home but Governor Makinde have no time to attend to pressing issues of governance.
He is engrossed in the politics of 2027.
A couple of days ago, at Amuloko, in Governor Makinde’s Local Government, a terrible accident occurred that claimed the innocent lives of many, school children included.
It is alleged that the terrible situation of the Road also contributed to the terrible accident.
Such a situation is an emergency that is enough to force the Governor to suspend all activities and attend to whatever that is needed to be done in person but NO.
Governor Makinde had a Campaign to attend to at Akure and he was personally present to threaten INEC!
Is that how public officials in those foreign Countries where Governor Makinde always love to go enjoy his holidays react to disasters?
Radio stations were constantly calling out for help immediately the accident occurred and that is the best expected of them and we must give them kudos.
Unfortunately, how could help arrive in time with such a terrible road to travel in? That is even if the expected assistance is available.
I think the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, Oyo state has a lot to do to forestall a repeat of the 2023 scenario.
It is only their unity of purpose that would rock the boat for the transactional strategy of Governor Makinde as we approach 2027.
Governor Makinde must be pushed back to the PDP House he and others have been consistently pulling down.
