I just read a news release signed by Bolaji Tunji, Media aide to Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, former First Lady to late Governor Ajimobi of Oyo State.

In the said release, Mrs. Ajimobi, apparently in defense of the accusations of Anti Party activities leveled against her and others made a tame and tasteless attempts to deny the fact that Governor Makinde offered her and her co travelers two Commissionerships slots.

According to Mrs Ajimobi, Governor Makinde of the PDP is ” doing a good job and providing leadership” .

Perhaps, those attributes warranted and justifies her anti-party activities during the recently concluded general elections.

It is apposite to remind Mrs. Ajimobi that no matter how hard she tries, there is no justification for her open condemnation of a party she professes to be a leader of.

Moreso, having regards to the fact that herself and family have benefitted in no small measures from the same party.

The part that leaves a sour taste in the mouth is the fact that her biological son was a flag bearer for the position of House of Assembly on the platform of the party and yet, Mrs Ajimobi still found it convenient to publicly de-market the party to the detriment of her son and political party!

It not hidden that herself and others in her shoes who publicly but sadly worked against the party during the gubernatorial election have been seeking to curry favours from Abuja, hence, the need to justify their acts of betrayal of the party.

Truth be told, the handshake Mrs Ajimobi and others had with the opposition Party during the election period actually went beyond the elbows and it obviously became something else.

The attending widespread condemnation been directed at them is a cross they ought to have prepared to carry and I think proudly so.

The explanation that they gave their Party away with no attachments made it worse even though, unbelievable and untenable.

Everyone who turns himself to the proverbial angry man who had an issue with one person but ended up poking his fingers in the eyes of the households must be prepared to carry the cross of general condemnation. That is what the Yorubas called ” o ba enikan ja towo bo gbogbo ile loju”.

A child who the straws meant to roof his father’s house and donated them to his father’s enemies just because his father could not satisfy his greed must not expect to come to the same house of his father which he just managed to put together having lost the initial straws to the indiscretions of the same child.

For Mrs. Ajimobi and others, there nothing to justify the magnitude of destruction they brought to their party and they better live with it.

    SOLA ABEGUNDE.
