Youths, under the aegis of Eruwa Youths Movements issued a statement yesterday, registering their displeasure and what they called their frustrations with the attitudes of the Speaker, Oyo state House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin.
According to the Youths, Ogundoyin made several promises to them before the election which he has failed to fulfill and most particularly, he has not been accessible to the Youths.
If I will be honest here, I will firmly say that those who are complaining about Debo Ogundoyin at this point are those Yorubas refer to as the* A moran bi ni Oyo” or better still, the” a fi ago ko eyin Aparo”.
What exactly do they expect from the young man?
That he suddenly transforms to what he was not in his four years and about seven months that he’s been the representative for Ibarapa East, four of those years as Speaker?
I think those who voted Debo for a second term should be honest enough to admit that they voted him for a second or is it third term not because of his performance but purely because of premordial sentiments.
What is Debo doing now that he has not been doing for the past six years or thereabout that he’s been the representative for Ibarapa East in Seyi Makinde’s Government?
It is on record that this same Youths and some Elders within the Eruwa Community took Debo’s reelection so personal that they labelled anyone who didn’t share their premordial sentiments as an enemy of Eruwa.
Every right thinking persons within the Community knew that the PDP and whoever represented them did not deserve our votes because of the total neglect of the Community by Seyi Makinde and the disdain the Governor had and have continued to have for the Community.
Unfortunately, when an opportunity presented itself for the Community to redress the situation, did sentiments not prevail?
Was the campaign slogan not about Eruwa and Lanlate instead of the reality of the failures of both Makinde and the Speaker?
For the good four years of Governor Makinde’s first term, the less than 50 km of the strech of Road from Ido to Eruwa was an eye sore despite the fact that the number three citizen in the Government was from Eruwa in Ibarapa East.
That Road became a big issue during the campaign, but trust Makinde, he will dribble you if you are gullible enough not to see through the veil of deceits.
He quickly mobilized and went down to Eruwa a few weeks to the 2023 gubernatorial election.
A flag off of the portion of the Road was done with a funfare at the New Eruwa end and the contract awarded to the Leader of the PDP in Ibarapa zone.
The said Leader of the PDP is equally from Eruwa.
Who were the crowd clapping and singing ” Seyi e da” at the event?
Was it not this same Youths and the Elders of Eruwa?
Today, if you put together the quantity of job done on the Road project, both from the New Eruwa end and from Ido, because another Contractor was given the portion from Ido, it is not up to three kilometers!
It will interest the reader to note that the flag off of the Ido/Omi Adio Road was done the same time with that of the Ido/ Eruwa.
The Ido/Omi Adio Road had been completed and opened months ago while the Ido/Eruwa have continued with snail speed.
Two Road projects were commenced within Eruwa in the first term of Governor Makinde and Debo Ogundoyin as Speaker.
The Road from New Garage to Oke Ola and the Road from Alayande junction to Isaba junction.
The latter road leads to the Residence of late Chief Ogundoyin, the father of the Speaker.
The two roads can not measure up to one and a half kilometers.
It is so sad that the two roads have not been completed up till today.
The Road from New Garage to Oke Ola is allegedly been handled by a simbling of the Speaker.
In fact, the roads have become almost impassable as a result of the abandonment.
Governor Makinde promised to upgrade the Eruwa Farm settlement to an Agric hub.
The promise like many others have turned out to be audio.
There was a promise to take over the Cashew plantation along New Eruwa and Orisumibare village.
The promise have been abandoned.
We all know how the Governor was reluctant to appointment a Governing Council for the Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic in Eruwa and how the Institution suffered as a result of the action.
Governor Makinde made promises of funds for the College of Education in Lanlate but reneged in fulfilling those promises for a very long time.
During the Local Government Election of 2021, Auxiliary, the erstwhile Chairman of the Oyo PMS led thugs to kill four, four people in Eruwa.
Governor Makinde had no sympathy for the Community and neither did he mentioned that incident until he came to Eruwa Town Hall to tell the same Youths and Elders that Ibarapa East was supposed to have abided by the wishes of the Speaker in the choice of the Local Government Chairman.
What did the Youths do in answer to the effrontery of Governor Makinde and were the Elders not singing the lyrics of ” Ori okere koko lawo” for those who dared to challenge the PDP for the seat of the Local Government?
The masquerade that Debo have become was robed by the Youths and the Elders who will rather ignore his and Governor Makinde’s failures to embrace premordial sentiments.
They reinforced failures and must find a way to live with it.
Governor Makinde have crippled all the 33 Local Governments, there by rendering the Local Government Chairmen horse de combat.
Unfortunately, our Youths and Elders have chosen to embrace both himself and the Speaker, who is not less culpable, by renewing their tenures.
I say, good luck to the Youths and may they keep enjoying the sour fruits of their indescretions.
As for the Governor and the Speaker, History has a place for them.
SOLA ABEGUNDE.
