I was on several Radio stations this week to ventilate on burning issues in the areas of politics, economy and governance in Nigeria.
Of particular interest was the series of allegations I raised against Governor Seyi Makinde regarding misappropriation of Government funds, most especially, Local Government funds.
I made clarifications and repeated the challenges I have always thrown at the Governor and which he has decided to ignore.
I used the opportunity of the Radio to repeat the demand that the Governor avail the public with the details of the income and expenditures of the 33 Local Governments since 2019.
Oh! It must have hurt a lot.
When I left the studios of Fresh FM radio station yesterday evening, I recollect telling a brother who accompanied me that the weekend would be a busy one.
He asked why and I told him I was sure that the shepherd has been struck again and that the ” Abobakus” must be hitting their heads on the table, wondering how to respond.
I told my brother clearly that the unofficial Abobakus would lead the charge and Gbam! This morning, I have been proven right.
One Babajide Alex Adetunji who claims to live in Jankata area of Ibadan and who had tried, albeit unsuccessfully to whip up primordial sentiments against a story I did some weeks ago suddenly found his voice.
He is just waking up to see that Governor Seyi Makinde made a statement about how the 2027 presidential election would be between the APC and Nigerians.
Let me give you a background account about the dog that has gone to sleep a couple of weeks ago and which Adetunji thinks he should wake up this weekend.
Governor Makinde had said that the 2027 presidential election would be between the APC and Nigerians.
He also called on members of the PDP to unite so as to wrestle power from president Tinubu and the APC in 2027.
He talked about how the policies of president Tinubu is hurting Nigerians amongst other issues.
I recollect that the National Publicity secretary of the APC fired a rejoinder to the statements made by Makinde and Oyo APC through Its Publicity secretary equally responded to him as they should.
I remember doing a piece about the statement made by Makinde.
I will reproduce my observations here so as to show the reading public what manner of a person Adetunji is, I just hope that is his true identity because I am now used to the different dirty tricks of the defenders of Governor Makinde.
In my response to the statements made by Governor Makinde, I said I agree in to to with his submissions that the 2027 presidential election would be between the APC and Nigerians.
It has always been so. There is nothing to dispute about this facts.
I know Alex Adetunji read my response then and he must have also read the rejoinders by the APC National and state.
I wonder wherever he sent his mouth at the time if he had any opinion about the issue.
Perhaps, he, like others had taken his mouth to the Alagbafo at the time and perhaps, he just collected it.
After agreeing with Governor Makinde about his postulations that the 2027 presidential election would be between the APC and Nigerians, I went further to ask Governor Makinde which of the PDP he was referring to when he demanded for unity within the party.
I went ahead to catalogue the activities of Makinde and his gang of G-5 and how their selfish interests led to the bleeding to near death of the PDP.
I exposed how Governor Makinde entered into an unholy alliance in 2023 with the same Tinubu and the same APC he is castigating now so as to save his neck from being politically severed and how that unholy alliance helped to secure a second term for Governor Makinde.
Up till now, there is no official response against the write up.
I am sure Adetunji must have read that piece and he elected to keep his tongue in the scabbard.
Why won’t he? What superior facts would he have to counter such claims that is notoriously known, even to children.
Now, he has chosen to come out, two weeks after the issue has gone down to claim that someone is not allowing the Governor to rest.
Alex Adetunji is very good at putting together sensational headlines.
Unfortunately, his lack of convincing contents always let him down.
The other time, he asked about who was not happy about Ibadan Roads.
He said Ibadans are happy about the Roads Makinde is making.
I asked him to show me the drums and the dancers and he went back to his shell.
Even though, he left the substance of the piece I wrote where I alleged that Governor Makinde is illegally spending the funds meant for the 33 Local Governments to rehabilitate some Roads in Ibadan and attempted to introduce sentiments, he failed because while trying to come from the lazy angle of raising Ibadan sentiments, he obviously forgot that Ibadan has 11 Local Governments.
Those 11 Local Governments are divided into outer and inner cities.
Adetunji forgot that whatever the Governor is doing within some areas in the inner city, the outer city is completely neglected.
He has also failed in his latest efforts.
Actions beget reactions. How could any reasonable person see a political altercation between two or more political figures or parties as tantamount to not allowing the Governor to rest?
Who is even Adetunji to ask anyone to allow Governor Makinde to rest?
Governor Seyi Makinde is a public servant.
The citizens of Oyo state are his masters.
He feeds and does almost everything on the resources of Oyo state.
His constant holidays abroad are on the necks of the citizens of Oyo state.
What rest does the Governor say he wants?
The one that will make the citizens dumb even if the Governor is patently wrong?
He won’t get that. The only way he would have the luxury of such is to resign from office.
It is very interesting that Alex Adetunji is bestowing the responsibilities of the mouthpiece of Nigerians on Governor Makinde.
What did that mouth speak in 2023?
Did that same mouth not say that he and four of his colleagues would ensure that they destroyed their own political party so that Tinubu could become president for fairness, equity and justice?
Ok o. Now that the mouth has discovered that the equity, fairness and justice of 2023 is no longer want they said it was, does it not worry Adetunji that his beloved Governor Makinde has not see it fit to beg for forgiveness from Nigerians and the PDP they destroyed in 2023?
In fact, I do not see any word strong enough to condemn the deceitful mouth that fought for fairness, equity and justice in 2023 and is saying otherwise in 2024 without first begging for forgiveness from those he deceived in 2023.
Only morons would take the words from such a mouth serious.
It is interesting that Alex specifically singled my name out for mentioning in his illogical write up and choose to ignore the responses from higher Bodies of the APC National and the state.
Can you now see that the fellow is just pissed off because of my Radio Interviews during the week. Though, he couldn’t go directly to the point.
I am not sorry to tell Alex Adetunji and the would be Alex Adetunjis that we won’t allow the Governor to rest.
We will continue to do what he asked us to do. That is, hold him accountable as a public office holder.
We will continue to demand for the reasons he has chosen to mismanage the resources of the 33 Local Governments.
Why our Local Governments are in debts despite the fact that there is no visible developments in the Local Governments.
We will continue to demand that the Governor tell the citizens of Oyo state the report of his inquiries into the failed Light Up Oyo contract and the contract for the purchase of exercise books.
No one forced the Governor to declare that the contractor who handled the Light Up Oyo project failed in the delivery.
No one forced the Governor to say that he would investigate the circumstances that led to the failure.
Are Oyo state citizens not entitled to know what went wrong considering the amounts involved?
I hope Alex Adetunji knows that I wasn’t the one who forced the Governor to promise, with swags and gusto that he would resign if the allegations regarding the contract for the purchase of exercise books were proven.
I was not the one who leased out Agbowo shopping complex for fifty years at the rate of # 5 billion.
Neither am I the one who chased the Consultant for Agbowo shopping complex away.
I am not the one who wrote letters of irrevocable credit that consigned the 33 Local Governments to debts.
Am I?
I will like to drop a brotherly advice for Alex Adetunji.
I think he should direct his energy on appealing to the Governor to honor his Sobolations by doing the Roads in Jankata.
Honestly, Adetunji deserves that much.
