A press release by Otunba Adegbenro Fagbemi and Eng. Gbeminiyi Ayodele, Chairman and Public Relations Officer of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) created, at best, some sad amusements. Yorubas would call such ” oro buruku toun terin”. The subjective views by the duo is not a new thing in our electoral patterns. It has become a fashion for election riggers to look for some funny individuals who are privileged to hold some positions to try and use them in a desperate bid to create a semblance of acceptance and legitimacy. The old trick could be likened to the wisdom…

Attracted by the casual attention this researcher paid to a croaker fish on display on her stall, the lady attempted to win this potential buyer to her stall. So, she began to dish out a mesh of adulations and panegyrics of the buyer. “Aguntasoolo, okoo mi, e wa ba mi raa,” she chanted. The researcher translated the chant thus: “Dapper-and-gracefully-tall-one, my husband, please buy from me.” The marketing gambit won and the researcher branched by to haggle the price of the fish.…

On Saturday, 27th April, 2024, Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde conducted election in the 33 Local Governments of the state. The circumstances before, during and after the election eventually laid to rest whatever doubts any right thinking human being had about the turn of events that produced a shock defeat of the APC in the gubernatorial election of 2023. Many of us have said it repeatedly that Seyi Makinde did not defeat the APC in 2023. How could the PDP come from a crushing defeat, where it lost in the presidential ballot, the Senatorial ballot a conceded 9 out of…

There have been massive support for the establishment of state police recently. Those who have been voicing support for the establishment seem to be concentrated on just one point, the fact that they consider crime and policing a local phenomenon. They are very correct. However, they seem to have overlooked the evils that would definitely come with the establishment of a state security apparatus that will be wholly in control of state Governors who have been given too much powers already through the Constitution. Power corrupts and absolute powers corrupt absolutely. Before we all join the bandwagon asking for the…

A sad Drama was enacted in Oyo state between Saturday the 27th of April and Sunday 28th by the Oyo state Independent Electoral Commission, (OYSIEC). The unfortunate Drama was supervised and delivered by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria who is the Chairman of the Oyo Electoral Commission. I have said a lot about the person of Isiaka Olaguju SAN and I won’t flog issues about how he did what he did here. Sadly again, another Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Niyi Akintola compounded the unfortunate Drama orchestrated by a fellow SAN as him when he appeared on a live Radio…
