Journey to perdition is the Title of an American block-buster.

Perdition, according to the Advanced Learner’s Dictionary is described as “punishment that lasts forever after death”.

These days, I shudder when I see how some individuals who have benefitted in no small measures from the APC have turned the Party to a punching bag.

Making reckless and unguarded statements about the Party and Its Leaders have become fun to many.

When things were normal, no one in his or her right senses would dare to work against his Party and come out to admit it publicly.

Unfortunately, things have changed. Now, we a situation where Party stalwarts now choose which candidate of the Party to support in a general election and which to work against.

Funny enough, when they choose the ones to work against, they do it publicly and with gusto.

The most painful aspect is that while doing this, they still look good in the books of those that matter at the top echelon of the Party!

The damage inflicted on the APC in Oyo State by some Leaders and Stakeholders within the Party is monumental to say the least.

Some who lost out at the Primaries or whose Candidates lost out constituted themselves into a stumbling block who worked day and night to ensure that the Party suffered the defeat it suffered during the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.

These characters are known to the general public.

Sadly, until now, they have not cease fire.

Just this last Saturday, one of them, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, who, ordinarily ought to be familiar with the consequences of making a reckless statement against the Party declared on a live Radio program that the “APC is dead in Oyo State!”

At this point, it is apposite to tell this individuals that no matter how much they try, the Party, APC shall not die in Oyo State.

Rather, it is their own political careers that is in the Intensive care and is bound to die if they choose to continue on the perilous course they have chatted for themselves.

Politics is dynamic in nature. Things will change.

Even those they have been deceiving in Abuja will sooner see through their deceits.

Like Chinua Achebe said in Arrow of God, “…no one, no matter how wise, can win judgement against his clan”.

In this instance, Oyo APC is the clan that this individuals have waged an unnecessary and self serving war against.

They are bound to be losers in the end.

Now all of them are jostling for positions in Abuja after they have successfully truncated the aspirations of thousands of committed Party faithfuls at the state level.

Some have already started mobilizing to contest for positions in 2027 on the platform of the Party they fought to the ground in 2023!

    Isn’t it funny!

My humble advice is for these individuals to retrace their steps and stop digging because, already, they are in a shit hole.

    SOLA ABEGUNDE.
