Nigeria is dying rapidly, not slowly under president Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Sadly, every indices point to a fact that the president see things differently.
Chinua Achebe once said that the day a mad man becomes conscious of his madness, that day is his day of salvation.
Unfortunately, while the generality of the Nigerian masses are seeing a Nation headed for the abyss, president Tinubu and his few accolytes are seeing a country in wonderland, to the extent that they are already gearing up for 2027!
” Iya nronu, Omo e nroka”. It is a case of the mother, been engrossed in grief while her daughter is busy preparing Amala.
Nigerians are dying daily of hunger and deprivation. Yet, the president who is solely responsible for the terrible situation we found ourselves is much more interested in how to perpetuate himself in office!
The question is, to what end?
I do not subscribe to the fact that the president is unaware of the hardships Nigerians are going through under him.
He is very much aware. He only doesn’t care. Yes. He doesn’t care.
He doesn’t care because he believes that he didn’t need Nigerians to manipulate his way to the presidency and he doesn’t need them to perpetuate himself beyond 2027.
From his first day in office, his sole aim and objective was how to sustain the office even if it meant making policies, which are unfavorable to Nigerians but pleasing to his foreign allies.
That is why his first official function was to announce the removal of fuel subsidies without a plan.
Though, he attributed that inglorious action to a demonstration of ” courage”. It is not courage. It was a survival strategy and the president was well aware of the negative consequences of such actions on Nigerians but so far as he got to keep his seat, all is well.
As an adult, I have never seen Nigerians so impoverished by Its Leader as they have been under Tinubu.
Majority of the Nigerian masses have been deformed by hunger.
Begging has now become a normal thing in Nigeria and the dignity of our people completely taken away by acute poverty.
Only God knows the number of Nigerians who die daily as a result of the inability to pay for drugs which prices have sky rocketed.
Crimes of all forms are on the increase.
Local companies are dying daily and foreign ones are leaving the country in droves.
Instead of the president to concentrate his efforts on how to address the ugly trends, he is either busy supporting one reckless individual in distabilizing Rivers state or backing an Emir in Kano all because of the calculations for 2027.
The words of the Bible is coming into effect here. ” The vanities of this world to disturb the powerful”.
Who told president Tinubu that at the rate he is going, making lives unbearable for Nigerians, there would still be a Nigeria for him to govern by 2027 even if he manages to manipulate things in his favor?
There must be a Nigeria first, before we will talk of who will govern It.
Every facets of our existence as a Nation have been bastardized under president Tinubu.
The Economy, Security and the Judiciary are in shambles.
It is so because the president wants to control everything for his personal ambition.
I have never seen a Nigerian president who kick-started his reelection campaign from the first day in office like president Tinubu.
In Aso Rock, all the president and his cohorts do is think, sleep and drink 2027!
Haa! We are in soup!!
I must however sound some notes of warning to the president.
While scheming for 2027, the president must know that he has more than politicians to deal with.
He must be preparing for the anger of the masses.
A hungry Nation is an angry Nation.
Nigerians are pressed to the walls.
It will be most unfortunate for anyone to take the present silence as a sign of helplessness.
It is the silence of the grave. The type which came before the big bang.
” Oosa bo le gbe mi, se mi bo se ba mi”. If the deity can not make the situation better, it must at least leave things as it were.
Jonathan was labeled ” clueless” even by Tinubu. Buhari was called ” Baba go slow” but Nigerians would rather have either of them, compared to the disaster we currently have in our hands.
Recent happenings in some African countries ought to worry the president.
I agree that the Nigerian president is perhaps, the most powerful president in the whole world.
However, the president must avert his mind to what Chinua Achebe said in one of his books that ” no man, however powerful, can win judgment against his clan”.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not an exception.
He will never win in any war he wages against the Nigerian people who are currently disenchanted from him.
Not even a compromised INEC or Judiciary will save him from the wrath of the masses.
I have said my own. Let him who thinks he stands be careful, lest he falls.
