Finally, Mukaila Auxiliary will be arraigned in court for allegations ranging from murder to the illegal possession of firearms.
One must give kudos to the security Agencies for this. At least, it is better later than never.
Auxiliary have been declared wanted by the Oyo state Command of Nigerian Police after a failed attempt to arrest him in his Diamond hotel.
The whole episodes surrounding the rise and the fall of the former aide to Governor Seyi Makinde is filled with intrigues.
Auxiliary had been properly dealt with by the late Governor Ajimobi who ensured that the guy went to prison for the crimes he committed in Iwo Road during the tenure of late Governor Alao Akala.
Interestingly, Makinde, as candidate of the PDP in 2019 reintegrated him back into the society.
According to Auxiliary, Seye, the right hand man to Governor Makinde approached him with a view to recruiting him to provide them with protection during the campaign.
After Governor Makinde was elected as Governor in 2019, the relationship transcends into Government and Auxiliary was rewarded with the Chairmanship of the Parks Management System, PMS.
Immediately Auxiliary got a position in government, he became a public menace.
In 2021, Auxiliary and his thugs were accused of the murder of four people in Eruwa during the Local Government Election.
Similarly, he was accused of the murder of some persons in Igangan during Governor Seyi Makinde’s campaign in the town in 2023.
He was accused of the murder of one Rahmon Azeez at Iwo about three years ago.
Auxiliary’s audacity knew no boundaries.
Public outrage grew in condemnations of his character.
Prominent people within and outside of Oyo state started calling on the Governor to call Auxiliary to order but the Governor was adamant.
Not only that, the Governor provided him with cover.
It was reported that some police officers came from Abuja to arrest Auxiliary before the last general election but the guy just ran to the Governor’s residence for cover.
Unconfirmed reports had it that the Governor actually signed for his bail bonds that day!
Auxiliary was later arraigned in a Magistrate court in Oyo state then but the fellow was granted bail same day and that was the end of the matter.
Governor Makinde is on record to also have thrown caution into the winds when Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin called his attention to the fact that no one will take his Government serious on the issue of security if he kept associating with character like Auxiliary.
Governor Makinde nearly brought the roof of the house down on that occassion in his determination to defend Auxiliary.
So the question is, who made Auxiliary what he has become today?
If Governor Seyi Makinde will be sincere with himself today, he will agree that the pursuit of his personal ambition is one of the critical ingredients that cooked the unpleasant menu known as Auxiliary.
Auxiliary will have his day in court and will surely be punished for his misdeeds.
However, what about the ones who relaunched him to the society?
What about his accomplices covert and overt?
Auxiliary is an illiterate. An ex convict.
How did he have access to purchase or acquire those sophisticated weapons?
With which weapons did he perpetuate the violence in Igangan during the Governorship campaigns and the killings in Eruwa in 2021 during the Local Government Election?
On whose promptings and who gave him cover?
The trial of Auxiliary is definitely party A of this sad Drama.
Definitely, there will be a part B sooner or later.
The kind of the crimes committed by Auxillary is one that takes two to tango.
The public knows better that the predicaments of Mukaila Auxillary is a product of circumstances.
It is not deliberate.
By the Grace of God Almighty, everyone who has something to hide in the sad scenarios will be exposed.
As for Governor Seyi Makinde, it is apposite to let him know that the public is a better judge of the current situation.
Rahman was gruesomely killed in broad daylight about three years ago.
The Governor promised us to fish out the killer, even though the killer was not a mystery.
It was after the incident of Rahman that the incident at Igangan happened when Governor Makinde went to the town to campaign.
Despite uproar from the public regarding the violent activities of Auxiliary, what did the Governor do then?
That is a question for the conscience of Governor Makinde.
Assuming, Governor Makinde never reintegrated Auxiliary back into the society when he did.
Assuming he didn’t entrust him with the Leadership of the PMS where he had access to funds and thugs, a lot of people will still be alive today.
There is no credit here that will go to Governor Makinde.
This episode will not end with the trial of Auxiliary for a single murder.
Now or later, the whole world will see how Auxiliary was remade and those who made him.
Meanwhile, the show goes on.
