I have seen that Oyo State PDP is terribly afraid of Distinguished Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin. The rate at which they reacted to Folarin’s harmless statement regarding his observation about the last gubernatorial election is curious.
Incidentally, that is the first public statement Senator Folarin would make since INEC declared Seyi Makinde of PDP as winner of the election and the PDP is already catching cold.
It is interesting to note that a statement directed much more at his own party men would elicit so much panic from the PDP!
It is either the PDP is idle or they were jolted by the sudden public appearance of a man who has since become their phobia. I will tilt towards the latter.
The main gist of the statement by Folarin is the appeal to Nigerians to be patient with the Government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, assuring that with time, all will be well as, according to him, the President is on the right track of making Nigeria greater.
I thought the PDP would take a cue from that beautiful statement. After all, both Oyo PDP and Governor Makinde claimed they worked for the success of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
While Governors of other states have quickly taken steps to alleviate the sufferings occasioned by the fuel subsidy removal to demonstrate support for the Federal Government, what has Governor Makinde done in that respect?
It is true he set up some committee but in concrete terms, what has he done to support the Federal Government initiative?
The verbal attacks directed at Distinguished Senator Teslim Folarin by the PDP is needles.
They can praise Governor Makinde as much as they please. It is their stock in trade but must they attack Folarin to complete their praise singing?
It is clear that the PDP is not comfortable with Folarin’s voice. Unfortunately, it is a voice they will continue to hear from time to time. I advice them to get used to it.
The unsolicited advice that Folarin should retire from politics is laughable and betrays their phobia of the former Senate Leader.
Who advised Makinde to retire when he lost Senatorial and Governorship elections in a row before a coalition of political parties resulted in his first ever victory in an election in 2019?
Teslim Kolawole Folarin will not retire from active politics. He will continue to offer himself for public service and the decision to accept him will not be that of the PDP but that of the good people of Oyo State.
If his presence in the political space is giving the PDP a headache, I advise them to take APC 24/7.
The reason they jump on Folarin needlessly is an open secret.
They will rather want Folarin away so that they can come to APC to continue to reap where they did not sow.
In the fullness of time, the whole world will see the PDP and the game they’re playing.
