Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde while trying to explain his frequent visits to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa said he was making the needless visits in the interests of Oyo State.
According to Makinde, he has been going in and out of the Villa to demand for the money Oyo State spent on Federal Government Roads!
If indeed the Governor is saying the truth, then, it is safe to see him as a most insensitive individual.
How on earth is it reasonable for a Governor to be making such a demand from a President who is just a few days in office and surprisingly, Makinde have been to the Villa three times within ten days!
Is Makinde telling us that the President is so idle to be listening to the same story from the same person at about a three days interval?
Governor Makinde’s penchant for dishonesty is legendary. Albeit, on this one, he just exposed how cheap he could be in his deceptive tendencies.
The President Tinubu that is known to Nigeria to be seriously occupied with urgent and pressing affairs of state is not one who will indulge an individual to distract him with unreasonable demands while serious matters are begging for his attention.
It is now obvious that Makinde and his co clowns known as the G5 having burnt their heads and now smelling their flesh have been feeling the backlash of their constant show of shame at the Villa and actually need to find a narrative for their shameful acts.
As the Yorubas would say, “ohun ta ba se niyi naa la nse te”. Meaning, it is the same act you perform and you get applauded that you do and you get mocked.
No matter how hard Governor Makinde tries, it is already public knowledge that his frequent visits to the Villa is self serving.
Just as he and his other gang of the defunct G5 constituted themselves into an eyesore before the general election, neglecting their duties while pursuing personal agenda, they have taken off after the election to continue the selfish pursuits.
Unfortunately, of the five, only Governor Makinde is a serving Governor presently. Yet, he still has the luxury of time to waste while neglecting his primary assignments.
I wonder why Governor Makinde will not borrow a leaf from the President who has faced his responsibilities with dedication and commitment.
The story by Makinde that he’s visiting the President to demand a refund of the money owed Oyo State by the Federal Government should be told to the Marines.
No President who is just days in office listens to such stories.
SOLA ABEGUNDE.
