The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu has restated his commitment to ensure free, fair, credible and acceptable process in the determination of party’s candidates for 2023 general elections.
Senator Adamu made the assurance statement through his Personal Assistant, Prof. Abdullahi Yau, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Prof. Yau in a telephone conversation with the Editor-In-Chief of The State Affairs NG dispelled a news report that the national secretariat of the party had instructed some governorship aspirants in Oyo State to shelve their ambitions in favour of a particular aspirant.
According to him, “it’s untrue that some governorship aspirants has been asked to shelve their ambitions in favour of a particular aspirant. To the best of my knowledge, all APC governorship aspirants from Oyo State passed the screening exercise and they are qualified to contest the primary elections slated for May 26th Thursday, 2022”
“Senator Abdullahi Adamu-led APC is not giving room for imposition of candidates. The party is providing a level-playing ground for all aspirants to test their popularity and acceptability of party members. No individual will choose candidates for the generality of party members. The validly elected delegates will decide the faiths of all aspirants”.
“There will be no preferential treatment for any aspirants before, during and after the primary elections” he stressed.
He concluded by urging all aspirants to accept the outcome of the forthcoming primary elections in good faith.
