The National Assembly has approved a N633.393 billion budget of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for the 2022 fiscal year.
The budget was approved after the Senate and the House of Representatives adopted the reports of their Committees on Telecommunications presented during plenary on Wednesday.
Presenting her report, at the Senate, Chairperson of the Committee, Senator Olufemi Tinubu (APC, Lagos Central), said out of the approved sum, N86,242,952 was for Recurrent Expenditure; N30,336,144 for Capital Expenditure and N42,445,864 for Special Projects; N466,868,323 was transfer to Federal Government; and N7,500,000 as Transfer to Universal Service Provision Fund.
She said, the Commission’s Revenue of N633.3bn consists of the Annual Licensing Fees (N1.5bn); Annual Operating Levy (N124bn); Spectrum Fees Charges (N450.2bn); Numbering Plan (N9.5bn); Administrative Charges (N4.4bn); Type Approval Fees (N902 million); Sanction Fees (N165m).
She added that others include: Sundry Income – N5m, FG Intervention for Broadband Infrastructure – N41.6bn and Transfer from Reserve – N1bn.
Similarly, Chairman of the House committee on Telecommunications, Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi (APC, Oyo) said, the budget was the projected capital expenditure, special projects and other expenditure of NCC for 2022.
