The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has suspended the Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission, Prof. Adeolu Akande and the outgoing Secretary of the party, Hon. Mojeed Olaoya indefinitely for allegedly involving in anti-party activities.
The indefinite suspension of both learders is coming on the heels of controversies that trailed the recently concluded state congress which produced Hon. Isaac Omodewu as the new Chairman of the party.
It was gathered that there has been no end in sight to the internal crisis of the party which is allegedly sponsored by the likes of Akande and Olaoya with a purpose to hijack or weaken the party structure ahead of 2023.
Prof. Akande who is a former member of the PDP and a close ally of Vice President Atiku Abubakar had previously been alleged of an attempt to destabilize the APC in order to make a triumphant return to his former party before the 2023 general elections.
Akande’s letter of suspension which was signed by the Chairman of the party in Ward 8, Itesiwaju Local Government, Mr. Rasheed Eweniran reads: “Investigation reveals that you have been saddled with the responsibility to destabilize the party in the state so as to pave way for your original political party come 2023. Secondly, your activities in recent times is capable of causing disrepute to our Ward and the party by extension. You have brought so much shame to our respected  Ward  by your anti-party activities.
“Your roles in the present crisis rocking the party in the state has  caused our Ward a great loss of face among other Wards and they all sum up to the fact that you have fully enmeshed yourself in anti-party activities. To this end, you have been indefinitely suspended.”
Also, Hon. Mojeed Olaoya was suspended on the ground of gross misconduct, prolonged absenteeism, anti-party activities and for not being a financial member of the party after an emergency ward meeting held at Ajimobi Compound, Oja’ba, Ibadan on Tuesday.
The letter revealing his suspension which was signed by Mr. Ibrahim Ishola and Mr. Muniru Adegbite, the Chairman and Secretary of the party in Ward 2, Ibadan South East Local Government respectively reads: “It has been observed that since the inception of the current executives, you have failed to perform your obligations and you did not for once pay your dues in the Ward. You are by implication not a financial member of the party. Also, you have, in recent time, don the garb capable of causing disrepute to our Ward and the party by extension. You have dragged our esteemed Ward in the mud by your anti party activities.
“These acts of yours have caused our Ward a great loss of face among other Wards and they all sum up to the fact that you have fully enmeshed yourself in anti party activities. You have also failed to attend Ward Meetings ever since the inception of the current Executives’ dispensation and have displayed a larger – than – life attitude towards the Ward leadership.
“For the records, rising from an emergency meeting held on 9th November, 2021, all the Executives and Distinguished Members of Ward 2, Ibadan South East Local Government have hereby suspended you from the Ward indefinitely. You are to desist from attending Ward Meetings henceforth until the leadership of the Ward deems it fit to lift your suspension when it is obvious that you have purged yourself of all these untowards attitude,” the letter concluded.
