Former Commissioner of Oyo State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Hon. Isaac Ajiboye Omodewu has commended party members Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State for their peaceful conduct and maturity during the local congress of the party on Saturday.
The Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the APC scheduled the party’s local congresses throughout the country for Saturday, September 4th 2021.
The former Commissioner Omodewu alongside other political gladiators in the council area participated in the peaceful exercise held at Baptist Primary School, Otu in Itesiwaju LGA.
The local congress was conducted by 3-man APC Adhoc Local Congress Committee sent by the Oyo State Chapter of APC. The electoral officials included Mr. Olona Yemmy Onabanjo, Mr. Adeniyi Isiaq Adekunle and Mr. Kareem Yusuff Akanni.
The party members, in their hundreds, elected Hon. Oyewole Segun as Chairman APC Itesiwaju LGA, Mrs. Aremu Abigeal Ayanfunmilayo as Local Secretary, Hon. Ajekiigbe Tunde as Local Youth Leader, Mrs. Ibikunle Bose as Local Women Leader and among others.
Representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nigerian Police, the Department of State Security Service (DSS) and other constituted security agencies witnessed the local party congress.
The elected party officials pledged to work hard for the unity, progress and peace of the party.
Hon. Omodewu in his remark said: “I was delighted with the peaceful conducted of the APC Local Congress in my local, Itesiwaju. Just like the July 31st ward congresses of the party, today’s exercise is rancour-free”.
“The fact that party leaders and our teeming members reached consensus to elect their local executives ahowed that there is maturity, tolerance and understanding Itesiwaju LGA irrespective of the various interests prevailing.”
Omodewu stated that the exemplary conduct of the APC members Itesiwaju LGA is a pointer to the fact that the party remains strong and will continue to wax stronger ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The Otu-born politician praised Governor Mai Mala Buni-led APC CECPC and Chief Akin Oke-led Oyo APC for their qualitative leaderships. “Their purposeful leadership has brought the party together by insisting on fairness, justice and inclusivity” he said.
The former Ajimobi aide urged the party members to rally round the new local executives and take the party to the next level.
